David matriculated from the Huguenot High School, in Wellington, in 2010. In 2011 he commenced his studies at the Stellenbosch University. Whilst completing his studies David was part of the Stellenbosch University Swimming Team and also served on the Executive Committee of The Pulp Film Society for one year. In January 2016 David commenced his articles of clerkship at Leon Frank & Partners, and was admitted as an Attorney in February 2018.

His interests include, reading, mountain biking and hiking.
